Airbrush Tanning

WHAT IS AIRBRUSH TANNING?
Airbrush tanning is a form of sunless spray tanning. Although we do not use an airbrush pen, we consider our method airbrushing because it is hand applied versus a spray booth that is automatic. The solution includes a cosmetic bronzer that gives the client a “just off the beach” look instantly. The ingredients in the sunless cosmetic bronzer are similar to those used in cosmetic foundations or powder bronzers. The DHA, or dihydroxyacetone, is the active ingredient that interacts with the top layer of your skin cells to produce the tan. After 6-8 hours you can rinse off the cosmetic bronzer and you are left with a natural looking tan for up to 7 days.

WHAT IS DHA?
DHA is a colorless chemical (it is derived from sugarcane) that interacts with the amino acids in skin cells to produce a brownish color appearance. DHA is Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved for cosmetic use. DHA has no known toxicity.

WILL THE SOLUTION STAIN MY CLOTHING AFTERWARDS?

No. The bronzer will wash out of most materials except for silk or nylon blends. To minimize the chance of the bronzer transferring to your clothing, we recommend that you always wear loose-fitting dark clothes. This will help hide any transferring of bronzer until you wash the clothes you were wearing. Refraining from physical exertion until after waiting 6-8 hours to shower will help minimize your transferring any bronzer to your clothes through sweating. Our solution bronzer is water-soluble and will, in most cases, wash out of your clothing or sheets once washed.

WHAT SHOULD I DO TO PREPARE MY SKIN PRIOR TO MY APPOINTMENT?

It is very important to exfoliate and hydrate your skin 18-24 hours prior to your session for best results. We also advise to refrain from using any type of lotions or perfumes day of the appointment to be sure that there is no barrier on your skin. Do not use an oil based body scrub the day of your appointment. This will leave a residue on the skin that will prevent the active ingredient working with your skin.

What Should I Wear for my Session?

Clothing is optional.  You can where whatever you are comfortable in during the spray tan.  We offer diposible garments as well.  We suggest bringing flip flops to change into when you leave so there's chance of sock marks.

If it is raining out bring an umbrella, as you don't want to get the skin wet before your tan has time to process.

Facials

HOW OFTEN SHOULD I GET A FACIAL?

Ideally, we see the most effective and consistent results from regular monthly facials. However, that is not a necessity for reaping the benefits of our services. To notice a significant improvement in your complexion, a monthly visit for the first three months is recommended. Together, we will then be able to best assess your skin’s response and appearance. From there, depending on your own follow-up regimen in-between visits and based on our individual consultation, a quarterly or seasonal facial may serve the purpose of your desired results.

WHY SHOULD SOMEONE GET FACIALS?
As we age so does our complexion. We start to notice uneven skin tone, discoloration, fine lines and less firmness to the skin. We want to restore its youthful appearance in a non-invasive way. Facials help to increase cell turnover on the surface of the skin, therefore producing more vibrant and smoother-looking skin. If you’re experiencing breakouts and mild inflammations, we suggest you visit our private spa before you see a dermatologist. It may be that a deep cleansing and new skincare routine is all you need. Whichever, we can help. If still unsure, come in for a complimentary skin analysis.

In addition, our face, head and neck massage technique is incorporated into the facial, which provides a very enjoyable and relaxing experience. It is often considered as meditative and mentally invigorating by many of our clients. It cannot be underestimated as an excellent antidote to the emotional and environmental stresses of everyday life. As these muscles become more relaxed, you’ll notice a refreshed, smoother expression to your features as the pressures of the day retreat. This, in turn, helps to evade tension-line deepening as you more regularly practice facial-muscle relaxation.

WILL I BREAKOUT AFTER A FACIAL?

An initial mild reaction or irritation within a day or two can sometimes occur, which is caused by the manipulation and stimulation to the pore. Until you experience your own skin’s sensitivity reaction to the process, it may be wise to schedule your appointment at least one week prior to a special occasion.

CAN I GO TANNING OR IN THE SUN AFTER A FACIAL?
Yes, but be careful, always use an SPF of 15 or higher on your face, neck and chest. Any prolong periods of sun will result in a burn, so be Sun Smart!

DO I NEED TO REMOVE MY MAKEUP BEFORE MY FACIAL?

No, come as you are. We’ll remove any makeup with our specialized cleansers. Actually, we like to see you with your makeup on. As a professional makeup artist and consultant as well, Lori is able to consider your concealer, foundation and powder preferences and application as part of your assessment. This also helps to better understand what types of skin products work best for your lifestyle and beauty routine.

Peels

WHAT IS A PEEL?
Peels are a deeper level of exfoliation. A thin layer of Alpha Hydroxy Acid (AHA) is applied to the surface but actually works below the outer layer to improve tone and texture. It is an excellent treatment with immediate results for all skin types and issues.

Waxing

HOW LONG DOES MY HAIR NEED TO BE BEFORE I CAN GET WAXED?

¼ to ½ inch of new hair growth (3-4 weeks) is usually sufficient depending on how fast your hair grows. One week after shaving is not enough time.

IS THERE ANYTHING I NEED TO BEFORE MY WAX?
Please remember to exfoliate the day before. You will get better results. (Face waxing does not apply).

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A BIKINI PLUS AND A BRAZILIAN WAX?
A Bikini Plus is taking off just a little bit more, your call. A Brazilian wax does not always mean everything must go but front to back, yes. This is no time for modesty. We recommend a Bikini or Bikini Plus before
going the more aggressive.

Sugaring

What is Sugaring?

Sugaring hair removal, an ancient middle-eastern practice uses an all natural paste or gel made from ingredients like sugar, water, lemon juice, and sometimes honey, salt and essentials oils. (We use the paste) It's made to remove the hair follicle from the root with results that can last up to six weeks.

Someone experienced can do sugaring quickly with the paste. Large amounts of hair can be taken out at once, and finished faster than  waxing. With most waxes, you have to apply them to a limited area- remove, go to your next area- remove and so forth. With sugaring you can speed things up by applying the paste to a very large area, and it won't dry out, even if you take it off in smaller sections.

Easy clean up. The Sugar paste is water soluble, meaning you can clean off any residue left on the skin with plain water. Wax is not water soluble, meaning it needs an oil-based remove to get rid of all traces.

Will it make my skin red and irritated?

Paste can be applied over missed hairs. The paste is very gentle and can be put right over an area that was just sugared but missed some hairs, without fear of much irritation.

How often do I need to return?
Temporary results can turn into permanent. Over time, frequent sugaring can cause the hair follicle to become damaged, and stop growing hair.
